WADE TOKORO
This “young” 40 year old Hawaiian has been shaping for 18 years. His master at the beginning of his career was Glen Minami, however, the person that has had the biggest influence on him is his brother, Kerry, with whom he shares his ideas and knowledge. He has no sponsored surfers, but he shapes for almost the entire WCT and WQS. While in Europe, he has shaped boards for Andy, Fanning, Parko, Taj… and of course for the top Europeans: Tiago, Tim Boal, Eneko, M. Picon, Jeremy, Beven…
His humble and likable character is far from that of the typical Hawaiian surfer, which is actually a mythical stereotype. His surfing, on the other hand, is not far behind that of many pros, in spite of his age. He is a permanent fixture in the lineup at Pipeline, his favourite wave, at any size. His only goal as a shaper is to make surfers happy on his quality boards, may they be WCT pros or weekend warriors.
