A very good junior surfer, Luke knew right away that he had the talent to make himself a career as a shaper, even in such a competitive arena as is Australia . His positive results allowed him to work as an apprentice for Simon Anderson and Greg Webber. He later went on to work for Merrick, Dahlberg and Cole. His next step was to work with Insight as an in-house shaper and soon after became independent, creating Luke Short Designs. He has been able to create excellent dishes with his own ingredients. Jay Quinn and Richie Lovett are his main team riders, although you can see his discreet logo between the legs of many of the top 44.
